5 Design Tips to Make your Backyard into a Full Outdoor House

Forget the aluminum folding chairs and charcoal grill. These five ideas can help turn your back yard into a true outdoor living space, with all the conveniences of the indoors — even a TV.

1. Island Kitchens. Great Railing has many different kinds to choose from. You can choose for your kitchen to come with a sink, refrigerator, CD player and even granite tops.

2. Entertainers Bar. Entertainers Bars are just that; a place for your friends and family to gather around. 30″ Bar Center with ice box, chopping block condiment holder & more, you can even upgrade to granite tops to match the island kitchen and create an outdoor oasis kitchen in your backyard.

3. Fire Walls. Fire Walls are the new firepits for 2011. This Pre-fab. unit can be placed anywhere in your yard. It gives out More Heat than a typical Fireplace or Fire pit. It also fits in more applications then a Fireplace would normally.

4. Outdoor sound systems. Music enhances all your outdoor events, whether it’s a pool party or a gathering on your deck, says Mario Conlin, owner of Great Railing in Williamstown, NJ. Today’s speakers can be part of the landscape design, since there are products that look like rocks or planters, he says. The sound systems can be controlled remotely using an iPad, iPod or iPhone.

5. Flat-screen TVs. With flat-screen TVs rated for outdoor use, you don’t have to miss the big game during your outdoor party, Conlin says. If the TVs are not rated for outdoor use, he says, they can be housed in enclosures that are designed to last outside.
